The Small Business Network offers clients, mentors and community partners with opportunities to stay connected through networking, training, event, local resources, marketing, programs and more!

Starter Company+ offers business training, mentorship, and a $5000 micro-finance grant opportunity for select clients who start, buy or expand a “Main Street” business in Woodstock or Oxford County.

All clients are eligible for training and mentorship.

Micro-finance grants are limited and priority is given to “Main Street” business owners who have been operating less than five years.

This program is designed to help support and develop long-term sustainable business models.

Summer Company is a youth skills development program that offers business training, mentorship and a $3000 micro-finance grant opportunity for select students who start and run a business over the summer. Students must be between the ages of 15-29 and returning to studies in the fall.

This student opportunity is competitive and on a first-come basis.  Online applications are accepted between February and May each year.

Learning from a Mentor is key to success! Business Mentors are motivated and dedicated to helping entrepreneurs. They have a genuine desire to share their experiences, successes and mistakes and will support as a sounding board while providing honest, constructive feedback.

Small Business Network Mentors:

  • Currently operate or have previously managed a successful business for 2+ years
  • Are known as positive influencers and engaging business leaders
  • Specialize in diverse areas of coaching, business planning, operations, human resources, accounting, bookkeeping, taxation, marketing, sales, insurance, law, IT, e-commerce, etc.
  • Complete and provide SBEC with a Vulnerable Sector Police Check screening
  • Engage in one-to-one coaching meetings for 3 months when assigned as a lead Mentor
  • Attend 3 or 4 group mentor roundtable meetings throughout the year
  • Review and Evaluate 1-2 business plans per year, as a Starter Company+ Grant Review Committee Member
